When I made this look I had no intention of wearing my daughter's knee-highs from her school uniform. But I wanted to try something different and creative. When I saw the pictures at home I didn't love it- my husband immediately dubbed it "Moonrise Kingdom"! (Those knee-highs could have been re-thought!) Fail. But I wanted to stay committed to my creativity and not can the whole look...
So when I formulated this post it was going to be titled "Fashion: It's Not Brain Surgery! (Take That Risk!)" Then just this week I stumbled on the book, Refinery29: Style Stalking. What an inspiration- chock full of women on the streets, taking fashion risks and expressions that worked or didn't but showed a confidence in just going for it. Quote: "Fearlessness in Fashion goes a long way" and "Trust your Gut"! I really think that if we start with fearlessness in fashion, it will spill over into every aspect of our lives (for example, starting a blog!)
I am so happy to live in a city that celebrates creativity, being different, and taking risks. It inspires me! I learned a lot from this whole imperfect thing. The main idea, Go For It, Take Risks, and Have FUN! - "What kind of bird are YOU?"
