What a crazy week it's been. I'll have more posts coming soon, but bottom line, New York Fashion Week is an amazing time to be in the city! (I'm ducking out early, heading to Aspen to ski with my fam!) But I was so inspired- it was like going to Prom, with this funky Speed-Dating vibe mixed in. It was especially wonderful because of the new people I met, the friends I hung out with, and the amazing creative vibe from brands, labels, bloggers (love!) and creatives of all kinds. I felt lucky because this is the last time at Lincoln Center (it's been there the last 5 years- where or where will it be next year?!?)
My degree and professional background was in Design (started in Interiors and switched to Graphics), so anything visual or creative, in any form, really blows my skirt up (pleated, leather, midi, pencil-- any skirt will do). I also love fonts, architecture, interior design, and fashion. My husband's in advertising so we're like two peas in a pod when we look at clothing lines, ad campaigns, whatever. For our anniversary we went to a Font Exhibit here in the city(!) I love to use my appearance as a source of creativity, and my mother's Latina influence gave me confidence to task risks.
What fascinates me is the challenge New Yorkers take on every day to look like they didn't try to hard to look pulled together that day. To always dress appropriate to the occasion, but completely on trend. It may seem to others that they are superficial, always worried about the exterior, but think about it a sec - we all live in shoeboxes, we don't drive cars. How we dress is our sole form of public expression of ourselves. So all this fashion hoop-la is legit and taken very seriously.
These boots I'm wearing here I wore practically all weekend- so comfortable and now on sale! I loved the edginess of the patent leather. I mixed them with my skirts and leggings and matte leather. This jacket is awesome. Great layer. I'm kind of obsessed with the lines in this jewelry I'm wearing- it's a new designer and she's wonderful! I will be posting about her in detail, so stay tuned!!! And this bag, well!!! I know there's a ton of pink starting to appear, but I'm not quite on board yet. This unique pop of green is like pink's cousin- same family, different effect. See below for a ton of fresh green bag options!
